I don't know why, but I really want to see this. It kinda makes me mad that it's not coming anywhere close to me, so I suppose I'll have to wait.

I saw this today. I had mixed feelings about it. It was creepy(ish) at times. The blair witch thing isn't really relevant. That film may have been filmed similarly with the home video style, but you can't blame another film for using that style. It's not like that should have been the only film to ever use it. It adds realism. I like it when unknown actors (who are actually good) pop up in unknown horror films without some overproduced garbage that has horrible acting. There are only 4 or so actors in this, but they were pretty good. If I had to fault this for anything, I would have probably written it differently. Other than that I would say it was nothing stellar, but was worth the watch.

I thought it was really terrible.
The best thing I can say about the flick is that Paramount did a brilliant job marketing this thing.
Terrible film, even the cheap ending mimics one of my other least favorite "scary" films - Blair Witch. Boring, nothing new and not scary in the least.

johnny hit the nail on the head. if they wanted nappy-bye surveillance video, they could have taken it of the audience. this film made me want to close my eyes a few times, but i managed to stay awake. the film ended with no credits rolling, someone said out loud "where's the credits?". i answered back "would you want to take credit for that?". looks like they made it for a buck and a half.
all kidding aside, this film was very much like blair witch - all hype, no scare.

At least Blair witch had some substance. I was really bored for the fors 30 or 40 minutes. I think the last half-hour was ok. I heard all of the alternate endings were much better / creepier than the one they used. That was kind of disappointing to hear.

i dunno... even in the last half hour, very little happened. and the blue-tinted, simulated-low-light shaky-cam got damned annoying after a while.
even blair had better location shots. the woods in burkettsville were visually nice to look at (in color anyway).

Watched this Saturday night with a theater full of people. After the end people in the audience started booing the movie and yelling that it was a piece of shit.

Personally I enjoyed it and found it to be one of the best horror movies I've seen in years. This movie was all about building suspense which is something a lot of horror movies nowadays don't seem to care about. The ending kind of came out of nowhere but other than that it was good stuff.

I ended up watching it... I thought it was crap. The whole movie was one giant build up. One giant mediocre build.

Like Joker said, the ending came out of nowhere. After all this build up, you'd be expecting something friggen ridiculous to happen, especially because of all the hype, but nope. Nothing. Don't get me wrong, it did have a climax... but it was kind of like a male orgasm. Heart starts pounding, getting excited, blah blah blah, five seconds later it's all over. All this wait for a five second climax that wasn't even that good.

That's just me though.

I thought this was a pretty decent movie. It wasn't nearly as good as "The Blair Witch Project" but it was very creepy at times and interesting. I think it is one of the best horror films to come out in recent years. The ending was my favorite part and I would love to see these alternate endings everyone has been talking about.
